In 1999, the video game Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater shook the world when it sold 9 million copies upon release and changed the skateboarding scene forever. Pretending I’m a Superman is the story of the skaters and developers who came together to create the best-selling game as well as a look into how skateboarding became a part of the mainstream.

Pretending I’m a Superman is an independent film produced by D’Amato Productions, in association with The Berrics, that chronicles the rise and fall of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise, and its influence on the skateboarding industry and pop-culture.

The film features brand-new interviews with skateboarding legends such as Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, Jamie Thomas, and of course, Tony Hawk himself.

The documentary premiered at the prestigious Mammoth Film Festival where it won several awards including Best Documentary. It was picked up for distribution by Wood Entertainment and was highly sought after at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival Market. The film was released through VOD platforms on August 18th in the US, UK, AU / NZ and France. It was widely seen and reached the #2 spot most streamed documentaries on iTunes. The film currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
